bold miners: spirit of 84

Forty years have passed since the 1984 Miners’ Strike. Hartlepool was once surrounded by collieries and the pit villages still grapple with the legacy of their closure. The strike casts a long shadow here in the North East, but the story is one of community resilience, courage and solidarity. 2024’s specially commissioned show will bring together colliery brass band culture, protest song, and pillars of North East traditional music.
