Hartlepool Maritime Experience has loads for families to do

There are interactive displays in the quayside where you can learn all about life in the times of the Tall Ships. Fighting Ships is a walk-through experience that brings to life all the sights, sounds – and even smells! – of life on board a war ship. There’s the Maritime Adventure Centre with lots of activities that explain the science of navigation and life at sea. There’s even a soft interactive area for very young visitors, so you can see how you look as a powder monkey or what it feels like to sleep in a shipboard hammock!

Outdoors there’s the enclosed Historic Quay and the wooden Adventure Play Ship for staging your own imaginary vogages – and don’t forget the jaw-dropping HMS Trincomalee, which is an amazing place to explore.

There are family tickets available, great deals for 11 – 18s, and 10-and-unders are free with an adult’s ticket.
